Introduction

Pure has an intricate system for managing access rights and permissions. All content which is not marked confidential is visible for all Pure users and most content (i.e. not marked confidential or back-end) is visible for external visitors through the Pure Portal. That said, there are a number of situations in which people want to submit or edit content of which they are not the owner. In those such situations, additional rights have to be requested at the helpdesk. Pure offers three levels of permissions for most content types in the system: trusted user, editor and administrator. Administrator rights give full read and write access on specific content types for the entire VUB and are never granted to normal users. We try to limit the number of administrators as much as possible to a few people in the administration.
