Creating Research Output

There are two main ways of entering publications in Pure: either you manually fill out the correct template or you import the publication's metadata from one of the sources for which we currently have subscriptions.

All publications entered in Pure go through a validation process. During this process, validators formally check whether all required information is present on the publication record. They also try to avoid duplicate records in the database. For field-per-field validation rules, please visit the validation page. All comments made by validators and all the manipulations a publication record underwent are stored on the History and Comments tab.

Reporting on Research Output

Pure enables researchers and administrators to easily report on research output along different dimensions. Researchers can generate lists of their publications through the general interface, reporters with special permissions can create more advanced reports. If you feel you need special access to the reporting module, please contact us at the helpdesk.

The default Research Output view only shows publication you have authored or edited. In order to see all publications, remove the my content filter by clicking the cross symbol on the filter.

The interface will now display a list of all publications in Pure (which is generally not what you want. You can add filters by clicking the funnel symbol (File:Funnel wiki.png) and selecting one or more filtering criteria. It is possible to select multiple values for a single filter (for example, show all publications for a group of researchers) or to combine multiple filters (for example, show publications of one or more types, published during a particular period). You can then sort the resulting list by selecting a criterion in the sort by menu:

Finally, choosing a format in the Download list menu at the bottom of the screen allows you to export your selection in a number of different citation formats, such as APA or Harvard.

We've also made it possible to export a list of publications for direct import into the FWO eLoket.
